014 – Shat Trimshat Awards

December 23, 2017

As part of our program we teach Samskrit slokas to our kids. At the beginning of every class and every meeting we invariably chant our Samskrit prayers. At the end of the class or meeting we chant Samskrit prayers again. We chant Samskrit slokas on the powers of guru bhakti at the beginning and close with peace prayers. We started with 3 guru prayers and 3 peace prayers in the first year. Later we extended it to 12 prayers in all. Excited by the response we got from the kids, we decided to make some interested children to learn more slokas. In all we now have 36 slokas that many of our kids can chant.

In order to teach the children all these slokas we decided to come up with a small pocket sized book. This book shall contain 36 slokas with all their meanings and key vocabulary. The slokas and meanings are to be available in two languages – English and Telugu. The idea is to give away this book to any student who can chant all the 36 slokas in one go.

Our first set of girls to learn all the 36 slokas.

In our first attempt 8 girls learnt all the 36 slokas and showed their prowess in front of their peers in the classroom. It was a big hit. That day we had some guests too.

That was the first time we gave away the books autographed by the author( and founder of Soham Academy of Human Excellence) Komaragiri Sahadev.

The following are the pics from that memorable event. This event also turns out to be a small book release function in itself. Our visitors for the day included Mrs Jaya Reddy, Mr. Sudarshan Reddy and their daughter Mahati and son-in-law Rohit, all from Cleveland, Ohio. They gifted us with a nice handcrafted banner.
