059 – Practical Robotics at Two Amberpet Schools

A dream start for our Soham Champs program. We have been working on a plan to take our work to at least nine schools this year. We reached our first milestone of completing Practical Robotics class at two of our schools. Over 50 students from these two schools – Government High School, CPL, Amberpet and Hymavati High School, Premnagar, Amberpet – completed their level 1 and level 2 classes that spanned over 4 weeks.

Level 1 consisted of over 15 experiments and Level 2 consisted of 4 major projects. In each of these experiments kids were required to learn extensively about the Arduino platform and the various sensors, motors and accessories that can be used with it. By the end of the 4th week, kids from these two schools successfully completed 8 projects each. It was time to celebrate and showcase their newly acquired skills.

We organized a get together for both the schools under one roof at the Government High School, Amberpet, CPL. The kids talked about their projects and what it took them to complete the projects. The kids also thanked their gurus who helped them in learning and in completing their projects. They expressed it through a bunch of thank you cards that they handed over to each of the gurus.

Sai Krishna lead the gurus team at the Amberpet Government High School and Shiva Krishna at the Hymavati School. They were assisted by Shloka, Nandini, Akshita, Mallikarjun and Ajay. Incidentally Mallikarjun and Ajay were our robotics students from our 2019 summer camp. They completed 10th class and were more than happy to join and assist in our Robotics classes at these two schools.

Kudos to this team that worked relentlessly in ensuring a successful completion of the program at these two schools. They were able to put a big smile on all the kids who participated in a course that they never imagined was possible. The sense of achievement was quiet visible.

A big thank you goes out to Madhushalini ma’am, Sridhar Sir, Rajini ma’am and HM Manjula ma’am for their continuous support and encouragement. They readily accepted our request to host the valedictory session at their school. Also a big thank you to Niranjan sir of Hymavathi school who joined us at the valedictory.

Presence of Tipparaju Surendra, a technical leader at Microsoft was an added blessing for the occasion.  Somanchi, an young IT professional from Colosseum, joined the festivities. Our trustee Salgam Arun Kumar was also present with his nephews to encourage our budding scientists.
