In November 2017, we started a new routine for my kids. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we meet at a local ground from 6:30AM to 7:30AM. The idea is to inculcate a fitness routine from a very early age. They were promised that they will be taken to a 5K run if they attend for three weeks. As promised we took them to Freedom Run on November 26, 2017 and to Drug Free Hyderabad Run on December 3, 2017.
In both the cases the kids were ecstatic about their achievement. During all the days at the ground, children learnt basic Yoga routines from Vignatha, one of the finest members of iFocus. Now thanks again to a wonderful idea from Vignatha, we started preparing our children for a live Yoga performance at their school Republic Day function. Vignatha was joined by another brilliant young fellow by name Bharat who is also a very active member at iFocus. For about 8 days the children toiled. Every day from 4pm to 6pm they struggled like anything to bend their bodies like never before. For some it was a piece of cake. But for others it meant crying in pain and eek out a loud ouch once in a while. By far this is the toughest ever assignment for our kids. It made them tough and strongly believe that they can do things that very few can! At the end of all this, they learnt to perform Surya Namaskars followed by five different formations in a stunningly smooth manner. Such live Yoga performance was a first at the school.
While the 2017 Republic Day in New Delhi was a celebration of women power at a national level, we did something similar on our own scale at Soham Academy of Human Excellence. All the twelve participants are girls from 9th standard with the exception of one girl who is from 6th standard. What is the outcome? Now more and more kids are interested in joining the Yoga programme. The Yoga Fever is catching on!
