030 – Sri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations

Taking children out for celebrations is key to make them understand how the world works. We make use of every opportunity to take our kids to places of interest, especially on important days.

We celebrated Sri Krishna Janmashtami at the Venugopala Swamy Temple and Goshala. About 35 kids joined us on this hour long drive to Gandipet Area.

  • We spent most of the day at the Ashram.
  • The kids chanted Shlokas and sang some keerthanas.
  • The fun part was right after lunch. They jumped up, formed pyramids and did all sorts of circus just to reach that elusive pot (utti). After many attempts they cracked it open. (See pics below)
  • On our way back we visited the nearby Gandipet lake park. Children had their second round of fun here.

Tired and exhausted, we all returned home way past 6 pm. A very fulfilling day for all of us. Many thanks to Mata Nirmalandamayi, the head of the temple/ghoshala who hosted as and treated all the kids as her own. Many thanks to Rajani ma’am, a teacher at Amberpet Government High School, for inviting us to this event.

Here are some pics from the event.
