Another beautiful day for Soham Academy of Human Excellence. 30 Sohamites, including two coaches, participated in the Freedom Run at Necklace Road. About an year ago, we took 15 kids to this very event.
21 boys and 9 girls in all. 4 in 10K and 26 in 5K. 2 of our 5K runners got lost into a 10K lane and completed 10K without a drop of sweat!! That makes it 6 in 10K!!!
After nearly a month of training they all completed the run with great ease. None of them looked tired. Even the 10K participants reached the finish line with charming finesse.
The big icing on the cake came when we were all called onto the stage to receive a trophy for being the “Most Active Educational Institution” of the 2018 Freedom Run. The kids were ecstatic. We were all on the stage to receive it from the organization chiefs. Participants last year 15, this year 30. They are all roaring to go to 10K as soon as possible.
For many of our kids this is their first run. Alas, each of them will go home with a medal and a big smile. They are going to be the talk of their families for days. They all know that they have achieved something that seemed impossible just a few weeks back. Now they reached a peak. From now on no mountain seems too high for them. That, I believe, is the big achievement of this run.
Within a year, some of our kids are likely to complete a half marathon! Please wish them the best.
A big part of the credit for this achievement goes to the two running gurus Yogesh and Azeez. They were there everyday at the ground to coach the kids. They ran too. Great going gurus.. keep it up.
